Short Distance
All trail races with permits issued by the TRA and TRA registered races between 5 and 13 miles, where the event issues results timed to the second, with the winner being the person achieving the absolute fastest time. Other trail races of between 5 and 13 miles may be included at the discretion of the Series Organiser. Non-competitive walks and fun runs are not classed as races, and handicap events are excluded). Entrants for the Short Distance Series must send the full results of the races they participated in to the Series Organiser with their entry form.
2007 Series Rules
1) Participation in the TRA Race Series is limited to paid-up TRA members (including family members).
2) Individual and team entries must be made on the official entry form on or before 29 February 2008. Please do not submit your entry before you have completed at least the requisite number of qualifying in 2007. Individual Competition
3) To complete a series, at least three qualifying races in that series must be completed.
4) Each competitor's best three results (based on the scoring system explained below) count towards his or her final score.
5) In each series, at the end of the year; the participants' total scores will be ranked and the person scoring the highest number of points adjudged the winner.
6) New members may include one race from each series they have entered which was completed before joining the TRA.
7) In the event of a draw, the member with the single best race score will be declared the series winner. Should there still be a draw, the second best race score, then the third, will be used. If that does not produce a winner, the person who completed the most events in the series will be declared the winner.
8) Members competing in the short series must send the full results of the races they participated in to the Series Organiser with their entry form. In the Ultra and Middle Series', participants should indicate what races they have completed on the entry form, but do not have to send in the results of those races.
Series Team Competition
9) Teams shall comprise three, four or five TRA members. Team members do not have to participate in the individual series nor complete three races.
10) In each series the three highest individual scores in each team's three highest scoring events will count towards the final team score.
Scoring System
11) A participant's time in a given race shall be converted into a score expressed as the ratio of the winner's time to the participant's time. For example, a participant finishing in 8:10:15 (29415 seconds) in an event won in 6:15:35 (22535 seconds) will be given a score of 0.7661 points (= 22535÷29415)
12) If a competitor completes more than three events in a series, the Series Organiser will discard the lower scoring events leaving the three highest scoring events to count in the series.
Trophies and Awards (Individual Competitions Only)
13) The winners' individual awards and trophies will be presented at the 2008 AGM. In each series a competitor will not receive more than one individual award.
14) Winners may take their trophies home on payment of a £20 deposit to the Series Organiser (cheques made payable to the TRA), and undertake to return it to the Series Organiser one month before the 2009 AGM.
15) Every individual entrant will receive a certificate for each completed
series.
Finally...
16) Any dispute which may arise not covered by the above rules will be referred by the Series Organiser to the TRA Committee for resolution. Their decision shall be final.
